50th anniversary celebration Morris School District Legacy
The Morris School District (MSD) celebrates its 50 year history as the only school district in New Jersey created by a court order, mandating the merging of Morristown and Morris Township schools to promote racial integration.
In 1972, the district embarked on a historic journey to unite the communities and impact the students for generations to come.
Throughout these 50 years, the district has worked to maintain and support diversity, equity and inclusion in the schools. District and community members alike are deeply committed to protecting and perpetuating the unique legacy of the Morris School District.
The Morris Education Foundation (MEF) was subsequently founded in 1992 by Stephen B. Wiley, lead counsel in the MSD merger, to generate and distribute resources to support and enhance MSD schools.
This partnership has helped the district continue to be a model of visionary social and educational leadership in New Jersey and the country.
