Morris Township Police Announces Hiring for Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III

Morristown, NJ - The Morris Township Police Department is actively seeking qualified retired police officers for the role of Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III, a part-time position assigned to Frelinghuysen Middle School.

The position is part-time, with a competitive pay rate of $36.00 per hour. Applicants must fulfill several pre-certification requirements to be considered. Key prerequisites include being a retired police officer from any municipality, county in New Jersey, or the New Jersey State Police, and currently residing in New Jersey. Applicants must be retired in good standing, evidenced by a letter from their previous agency, and should be under the age of 65 at the time of appointment.

In addition to these, candidates must successfully pass a psychological examination, a medical examination (including a drug test as per the Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Drug Testing Policy), and an updated background investigation. A valid New Jersey Driver's License and a NJ Police Training Commission Basic Police Officer Certification or NJ State Police Academy Certification are also mandatory.
