Mendham Township Seeks Donations for 4th of July Fireworks Celebration

The community is invited to contribute to the annual event, with a fundraising goal of $10,000 to ensure the celebration lights up as planned.

MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Mendham Township Recreation Department is reaching out to residents for financial support to continue its cherished tradition of hosting the 4th of July fireworks display. This year marks the potential 5th annual celebration, but the event's future hangs in the balance without sufficient community backing.

Traditionally funded by resident donations and contributions from the Recreation Trust Fund, the township’s draft municipal budget does not allocate funds for the fireworks, necessitating a community-driven fundraising initiative.

David Guida, Mendham Township Recreation Director, emphasized the importance of community support in bringing the fireworks to life: "While we would love to formally announce our 5th Annual 4th of July Fireworks celebration, at this point, we are unable to commit without community-wide support and fundraising."

The department has set a goal to raise $10,000 by May 1, 2024. Achieving this target is crucial for securing contractors and placing necessary deposits to ensure the event goes ahead on the tentative date of Friday, June 28, 2024. Guida expressed gratitude for past support and hopes the community will once again show its generosity to maintain this spectacular evening.

Residents interested in contributing can do so via the Community Pass Portal, where formal sponsorship opportunities are also available. The portal includes detailed monetary information and further options for those looking to support the event.

This event not only celebrates Independence Day but also serves as a vital component of community engagement and celebration in Mendham Township. As the deadline approaches, the Recreation Department remains hopeful that the community will come together to preserve this annual highlight.
