Health Department Offers SMAC Blood Testing Program to East Hanover & Roseland Residents

The East Hanover Health Department will conduct a SMAC Blood Testing Program for EAST HANOVER and ROSELAND RESIDENTS 18 years or older on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at the Thomas Rinaldi Center, 5th Street, East Hanover, NJ 07936.

SMAC is a comprehensive blood test that analyzes more than 20 components including total cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, glucose, and a CBC (Complete Blood Count.)

The Health Department's nursing staff will conduct blood pressure screening and offer health education. as well.

To participate in the Clinic, you must call (973) 888-6035 Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm for an appointment. For all participants who select the SMAC there is a fee of $22.00, and for those who select the SMAC plus the PSA screening there is a fee of $40.00. In addition to the SMAC test, the PSA (Prostatic Specific Antigen) blood test will also be available for men aged 50 and older, or for those 40 and older that have added risk factors. Those at risk include African American men as well as men with a family history of cancer. The fee for the PSA test alone is $25.00.

Appointments are available on a first come - first serve basis.

Fasting is required for the SMAC Blood Test; no food or drink, except for water for 12 hours prior to the test. If you are taking medication you may continue to do so.
