Whippany Railway Museum Invites Families to Celebrate Father's Day 2023 with Historic Train Rides

Unique Father's Day Gift: Experience History on Rails in Morris County!

Celebrate Father’s Day in a unique and memorable way this year, by taking Dad on a special journey through the pages of history right here in Morris County. The Whippany Railway Museum has announced its special Father's Day train rides on June 18, 2023. This day trip is the perfect gift to create lasting memories and an unforgettable family experience.

Set amidst the historical backdrop of the Whippany Railway Museum, this 45-minute round trip excursion takes passengers along "The Whippanong Trail", where General Washington's armies trekked during the bitter winter of 1779. As the train chugs along, families will not only enjoy the beautiful scenery but will also be steeped in the rich history of our country.

Adding to the historical charm, the Museum's mid-1900s excursion train features a collection of restored vintage cabooses from rail lines that once served New Jersey and the Metropolitan area. This 10-mile journey provides an excellent opportunity for children to experience their first train ride while learning about New Jersey's profound railroad and transportation history.

Moreover, passengers can tour the Museum site, showcasing an exceptional collection of historic locomotives, rolling stock, and operating model train layouts.

For a slightly higher fare, passengers can upgrade their experience by choosing to ride in one of the premium cars. These include the award-winning Lackawanna Railroad Subscription Club Car No. 2454, once known as 'The Millionaire’s Express', or the elegantly restored Central Railroad of New Jersey club car 'Jersey Coast'. These iconic carriages add a touch of luxury and nostalgia to the excursion.

The train will leave from 1 Railroad Plaza (intersection of Route 10 West & Whippany Road) in Whippany, NJ, with rain or shine departures at 1, 2, 3, and 4 pm.
