Construction Gridlock: Morris County Faces Major Delays Today

Multiple major roads in Morris County are undergoing construction today, causing significant traffic delays for commuters.

Commuters in Morris County are facing a challenging day on the roads due to widespread construction activities on several key highways and routes. From early morning hours into the afternoon, multiple lanes and shoulders will be closed, impacting traffic flow across the area.

On Interstate 287 northbound, construction work is ongoing between North of Exit 34 - CR 663 in Morris Township and North of Exit 39 - NJ 10 in Hanover Township. The right lane is closed until 2:00 PM, causing slowdowns during the morning and potentially extending into the afternoon commute.

Simultaneously, on I-280 westbound, there is construction from West of Exit 4 - Eisenhower Parkway/CR 609 to East of Exit 1W - New Road in East Hanover Township. The right shoulder closure, which will last until 3:30 PM, adds to the disruptions caused by the construction efforts in the region.

US 46 is notably congested today, with three separate construction events affecting traffic in both directions. In Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, the construction near CR 654/Cherry Hill Road and from US 202/CR 511/Parsippany Boulevard to I-287 has closed one right lane in each direction until 3:00 PM. Additionally, another construction zone west of I-80 in the same township has one left lane closed, further complicating travel along this busy route.

NJ 53 and NJ 23 are also experiencing similar disruptions. On NJ 53 southbound near US 46 in Denville Township, both a right lane and shoulder are closed until 3:00 PM. NJ 23 sees closures in multiple sections: from Maple Lake Road in Butler to North of Paterson Hamburg Turnpike in West Milford Township, and near CR 618/Kinnelon Road/Keil Road in Butler, affecting both north and southbound lanes and shoulders at different points, all scheduled to conclude by 3:30 PM.

Additionally, in Jefferson Township, NJ 23 southbound has a left lane closure south of CR 515/Stockholm Vernon Road that will last until 3:00 PM. Lastly, further construction on I-287 northbound near Exit 52 - NJ 23 in Pequannock Township has the right shoulder closed until 3:00 PM.

These simultaneous construction projects are essential for maintaining and improving infrastructure but have resulted in significant temporary inconvenience for drivers.
