Widespread Construction Projects Impact Travel Across Morristown and Surrounding Areas
Multiple construction activities prompt lane closures, affecting traffic patterns through late afternoon.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — As of this morning, residents and travelers throughout Morristown and neighboring townships are facing extensive lane closures due to a series of construction projects. These activities are expected to impact traffic flow across several major routes until late afternoon.
Construction crews are working on Denise Drive, closing all lanes between Geoffrey Drive and Powderhorn Drive in Kinnelon until 4:00 PM. Simultaneously, NJ 23 experiences lane restrictions from Maple Lake Road in Butler to just north of Paterson Hamburg Turnpike in West Milford Township, with one right lane closed in both directions until 3:00 PM.
On I-287, the northbound right lane will be shut down near Exit 33 for Harter Road/US 202 in Harding Township and further north between NJ 124 in Morristown and I-80 in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township. These closures are expected to persist until 3:00 PM and 2:00 PM, respectively.
US 46 is also heavily affected, with alternating lane and shoulder closures between I-80 and New Road in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, stretching from early morning until 3:00 PM. Additionally, eastbound traffic on NJ 10 is narrowed down to one right lane at Ridgedale Avenue in Hanover Township, continuing through the afternoon.
Travelers are advised to anticipate delays and consider alternative routes where possible. The construction on these critical transit arteries underscores ongoing efforts to maintain and improve road infrastructure in the area, aiming to ensure safer and more efficient travel in the long term.
