Smell of Smoke & Jennings Creek Wildfire in West Milford
From Sarah Neibart, Mayor, Mendham Township, & Evan “Buzzy” Thomas, Coordinator, Mendham Township Office of Emergency Management -
Good afternoon -
The New Jersey Forest Fire service along with many other fire departments and mutual aid partners continue to deal with the Jennings Creek Wildfire in West Milford. As a result of wind shifts, the smell of smoke in our municipality is resulting in an increased number of 911 calls to the Morris County Communications Center. We are aware of the fire and ask that residents do NOT call 911 unless you are experiencing an emergency. If you are sensitive to smoke conditions, please keep your windows closed.
Thank you, and stay safe.
