Morristown, NJ — The Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (MUUF) is delighted to announce the installation of the Rev. Sasha Ostrom as its fifth settled minister. The installation service will take place at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, in the Fellowship sanctuary, located at 21 Normandy Heights Road. The ceremony will be followed by a celebratory reception in Chu Hall.

This joyous occasion marks an important milestone in the congregation’s nearly 70-year history, as the Rev. Ostrom assumes her role as spiritual leader and guide. The installation service will be conducted by four ministers of the Unitarian Universalist denomination, along with Fellowship President Paul Ferm. Leaders of the Unitarian Universalist Association and clergy from the Morris County area have also been invited to witness and celebrate this special event.

An installation service is a time-honored tradition within Unitarian Universalism, formally recognizing and celebrating the covenantal relationship between a congregation and the minister they have called to serve. It is a moment of mutual commitment, shared vision, and spiritual renewal for both the minister and the congregation.

The Rev. Ostrom began her ministry at the Morristown UU Fellowship in August.

“I’m excited to begin my ministry with this great community of open-hearted people. The congregation’s liberal religious values and dedicated members have so much to offer Morristown. If you are looking for a new spiritual home that draws on diverse sources of wisdom, fosters an inclusive community within its walls, and works for justice in the world, I want to personally invite you to join us for worship. All are welcome!” she says.

Originally from the Phoenix, Arizona, area, she earned a Religious Studies degree from Arizona State University in 2008 and then started at Starr King School for the Ministry in 2011 and graduated in 2014. The Rev. Ostrom served as an intern for the First Unitarian Society of Madison, Wisconsin, and then was the assistant minister of the UU Fellowship of Raleigh, North Carolina starting in 2015 where she was responsible for the congregation’s justice ministry, pastoral care, adult faith formation, denominational and interfaith connections, and the young adult group, along with preaching once a month.

The Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship has a long-standing tradition of progressive, inclusive ministry. As the congregation welcomes the Rev. Ostrom, it looks forward to building on their mission to inspire spiritual growth, foster social justice, and cultivate a sense of community.
