Mayor Karr has partnered with Mayors of neighboring towns who are joining together to help our fellow Americans affected by last month's hurricanes. A 'Rock and Roll Big Night of Giving' event will be held at the Ukrainian Church Hall in Whippany on November 15th. More details will be available as we get closer to the date. The Morris Plains Fire Department, 531 Speedwell Avenue will have a bay open this Saturday, November 9th from 10:00am-3:00pm to collect non-perishable and other hurricane relief items.
The Department of Public Works, 10 Borough Terrace will also have a bay open to drop off items every day from 7:30-3:30pm leading up to the event.
Here are some items you can donate to help hurricane victims:
• Basic needs: Nonperishable food , water, and hygiene items like soap, shampoo, toilet paper and toothpaste
• Personal care: New underwear and socks, deodorant, combs, and hairbrushes
• Cleaning supplies: Paper towels, bleach, buckets, and gloves
• First aid: First aid kits
• Shelter: Bedding, towels, and washcloths
• Infant care: Formula, diapers, and rash cream
• Protective clothing: Bandanas, work gloves, and other protective clothing items
• Safety equipment: Dust masks
• Entertainment: Toys and books for children
• Utility tools: Plastic buckets, shovels, and rakes
We urge you to contribute whatever you can by dropping off essential supplies at the collection sites. Your donations will be deeply appreciated and will make a huge difference in the lives of those affected by the hurricanes.
