Morristown National Historical Park Welcomes Visitors to the Spring Encampment

Re-enactors from across the Northeast will gather at Jockey Hollow to bring history to life, providing a unique opportunity for the whole family to learn about Morristown's Revolutionary history

The Morristown National Historical Park is gearing up for its largest event of the year - the Spring Encampment at Jockey Hollow, taking place on Saturday, April 22, and Sunday, April 23, 2023. With free admission, the event offers visitors an immersive experience, showcasing the life and times of soldiers and civilians during the Revolutionary War.

Re-enactors from across the Northeast will gather at Jockey Hollow to bring history to life, providing a unique opportunity for the whole family to learn about the past. The event's highlights include demonstrations of various camp activities such as cooking, sewing, and other daily chores. Visitors can also witness military maneuvers and musket firing, offering a glimpse into the life of Revolutionary soldiers.

A special "children's muster" will be organized as part of the event, where young visitors can learn to drill and march like Revolutionary soldiers, allowing them to engage with history in a fun and interactive way.

The Spring Encampment will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, with activities concluding at 4:00 p.m. On Sunday, the event will wrap up at 3:30 p.m. The Morristown National Historical Park invites community members and visitors to take advantage of this unique opportunity to experience history firsthand and learn about the rich heritage of Morristown and the Revolutionary War.
