Christmas Festival at the Morristown Green Kicks Off December 1

MORRISTOWN, NJ - The magic of the holiday season returns to Morristown as the 2024 Christmas Festival at the Morristown Green kicks off on Sunday, December 1, at 5:00 p.m. Presented by the Morristown Partnership, the festival begins with the arrival of Santa Claus and the traditional lighting of the Morristown Green, transforming East Park Place into a dazzling holiday wonderland.

Opening Night Festivities

Opening night will feature:

• Santa’s Arrival: Santa will make his way to the Green at 5:00 p.m.
• Lighting of the Green: Thousands of holiday lights and decorative lamppost wreaths will illuminate the downtown area.
• Seasonal Treats: Event sponsor Hyatt Regency Morristown will serve complimentary cookies, hot chocolate, and hot apple cider.
• Holiday Carolers: Live music will set the festive mood.

Visitors can meet Santa and take photos from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Month-Long Family Fun

The festival will continue through Sunday, December 22, with activities every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, including:

• Santa Visits and Photos: Fridays from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. (December 6, 13, and 20), and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. ($15 photo fee).
• Holiday Crafts and Entertainment: A variety of family-friendly activities and live performances.
• Miniature Train Rides and Ice Sculpture Demonstrations: Returning favorites to delight children and adults alike.

Supporting the Community

The event, made possible by generous sponsors including 40 North Restaurants, Atlantic Health System – Morristown Medical Center, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and others, celebrates over 100 years of holiday tradition in Morristown. Visitors are encouraged to shop and dine locally, enjoying the beauty and vibrancy of the downtown area.

The Morristown Partnership offers gift certificates, redeemable at nearly 200 businesses, with a special bonus offer during the holidays. Proceeds from the festival’s Annual Appeal drive help fund the entirely privately supported event.
