Global Snack Giant Invests $50 Million in State-of-the-Art Facility for Iconic Brands in Whippany, New Jersey

Morris County Commissioner Director John Krickus and Commissioner Tayfun Selen joined other elected officials and community leaders in celebrating the opening of the new Mondelēz International global research and development facility in Whippany on May 1.

With a $50 million investment in building upgrades, the state-of-the-art facility will house Mondelēz's top scientists, who will perform R&D for beloved snacks and treats such as Oreos, Chips Ahoy!, Nutter Butter, Sour Patch Kids, and Swedish Fish.

"Morris County proudly welcomes Mondelēz International's global innovation center. As one of the world's largest snack producers with so many iconic brands that Americans know and love, we look forward to them unlocking the magic with their new facility here in Hanover Township," stated Director Krickus.

Commissioner Selen expressed his enthusiasm for the unveiling of the new research and development facility, highlighting Morris County's commitment to fostering and expanding its business base and pride in having Mondelēz as part of their community.

Distinguished speakers at the ribbon-cutting ceremony included Senator Bob Menendez, U.S. State Rep. Mikie Sherrill, New Jersey Secretary of State Tahesha Way, and Hanover Mayor Ace Gallagher.

Frank Sabella, Senior VP R&D, Global Beverages, Gum, Candy, Meals at Mondelēz International, credited the success of their New Jersey operations to the passion and dedication of their employees and the support of local elected officials and community leaders.

Senator Menendez emphasized New Jersey's longstanding tradition of innovation, while U.S. Rep. Sherrill highlighted the state's strong workforce, top-ranking public school system, and leading colleges and universities.

NJ Secretary of State Way commended the significant milestone of the ribbon-cutting, which demonstrated Mondelēz's commitment to job creation and investment in New Jersey. Mayor Gallagher, on behalf of Hanover Township, expressed gratitude for having Mondelēz as a partner and a significant part of their community.
