Morristown's Nic Fink Highlights Local Talent in World Aquatics Championships

Local Morris County swimmers make waves on the international stage at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.

MORRISTOWN, NJ - Local swimming sensation, Nic Fink, from Morristown, New Jersey, emerged as one of the standouts during the first night of the 2023 World Aquatics Championships held at the Marine Messe Arena in Fukuoka, Japan.

Fink, representing the Metro Atlantic Aquatic Club, successfully advanced to the finals of the Men's 100m Breaststroke. The Morristown swimmer secured a third-place finish in the semifinals with a time of 58.88 seconds, earning him a spot in the competition's next round, set for (Today) Monday, July 24.

Additionally, New Jersey swimmer Jack Alexy from Mendham, now training with California Aquatics, played a crucial role in Team USA's bronze medal win in the Men's 4x100m Freestyle Relay. Alexy clocked in an impressive split of 47.56 seconds, contributing to the overall team time of 3:10.82.

Another New Jersey native, Dare Rose from Jersey City, also representing California Aquatics, finished second in the Men's 50m Butterfly Semifinal. Rose recorded a personal best of 22.79 seconds, placing him third in the all-time American rankings for this event. He will compete in the final round on Monday, July 24.

Overall, Team USA displayed a strong start to the championships with a total haul of three silver medals and one bronze on the first day of pool competitions. The performances from New Jersey's own, especially Morristown's Nic Fink, have only added to the excitement for local supporters back home.
