Major Construction Work to Impact Morristown Traffic Starting March 23rd - Enbridge Pipeline Renovation

Attention Morristown residents! Get ready for some major construction work that is coming your way soon! Enbridge, a pipeline company out of South Plainfield, NJ, has announced its plans to perform an extensive renovation of its pipelines in Montville Township. This work is necessary to ensure compliance with federal pipeline safety regulations and to maintain the safety and reliability of its facilities.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration Regulations, Enbridge is required to routinely monitor its pipelines and address any segments that require attention in a timely fashion to protect the public. As a result, Enbridge has identified three areas of pipeline in Montville Township that require immediate attention.

The company has been working on a plan to address these areas and is ready to start work on March 23, 2023. The project will require extensive construction work on Route 202 and Changebridge Road, with work expected to occur at night on Route 202 and around the clock on Changebridge Road. The work is expected to continue through April 28, 2023, and will involve road closures and detours through the construction zones.

Despite the inconvenience of road closures and detours, the work is critical to public safety and will be carried out by Enbridge, Morris County, and a local contractor. At least one lane of travel is expected to remain open through the construction zones, and temporary construction signage will be posted in advance of the start date.

Enbridge has provided a 24-hour phone number for any questions or concerns during construction: 1 (888) 217-9110. Motorists are requested to seek alternate routes when available and allow for extra travel time. While this will undoubtedly have an impact on traffic in the community, the work is necessary, and working around the clock will hopefully allow the project to be completed in a more timely fashion.

We are and will be in close communication with Enbridge, Morris County and the Contractor to help make this project go as smoothly as possible while keeping the public informed with any information or changes that are necessary during the construction process. We understand the frustration that comes along with road closures and detours but request that motorists seek alternate routes when available and allow for extra travel time.” – Enbridge, Letter to Motorists.

Stay tuned for more updates on this project and don't forget to mark your calendars for March 23, 2023, when the construction work is expected to begin.
