In Memoriam: David "Dave" Cole, Jr. (1969-2023)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David "Dave" Cole, Jr., a dedicated and respected employee of the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MCMUA) who served the community for 31 years. Mr. Cole passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2023, at the age of 53.

Born and raised in Morris County, Mr. Cole began his career with the MCMUA in 1992 as a truck driver for its curbside recycling program. His unwavering dedication and work ethic led to his promotion to Supervisor of the Curbside Recycling program, where he played a pivotal role in managing residential recycling collection for thousands of residents.

Mr. Cole was known for his ever-present smile, commitment to his work, and the positive impact he made on the community. MCMUA Executive Director Larry Gindoff described him as "a good guy" who always approached his work with enthusiasm and a sense of responsibility.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Cole was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura, whom he married in 2007, and their four children. His dedication extended to his family, his meticulously tended front lawn, and the barbeques he hosted for friends and loved ones.

The Morris County Board of County Commissioners held a moment of silence in honor of Mr. Cole during their public meetings, with Commissioner Director Krickus providing heartfelt remarks in his memory.

Mr. Cole's passing is a great loss to his family, the MCMUA, and the people of Morris County. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

David Cole, Jr.
