Morris County Tackles Affordable Housing: East Hanover Developments to Offer Fair Share of Housing Options

East Hanover, NJ - As the New Jersey State Constitution mandates that every town in the state provide its fair share of affordable housing, the Township of East Hanover is taking steps to address this requirement. Currently, two multi-family developments are under construction in the township, both of which will contain deed-restricted affordable housing units upon completion.

The first development, located at 60-72 Eagle Rock Avenue, will feature 53 affordable rental units. The second development, situated at the intersection of River Road and DeForest Avenue, will contain 96 affordable units, with a minimum of 50 of these units designated as rentals.

While no affordable housing waiting list or application forms exist for either development at present, the Township plans to post a notification on its website once applications become available. Updates will be provided as new information emerges.

The inclusion of affordable housing options in these developments demonstrates the Township of East Hanover's commitment to upholding the New Jersey State Constitution's mandate. Ensuring a fair share of affordable housing options is crucial for promoting social and economic diversity, as well as providing opportunities for low- and moderate-income families to secure stable housing within the community.

As the need for affordable housing remains pressing across the state, these developments in East Hanover serve as a positive step towards addressing this issue. By adhering to the constitutional requirement, the Township of East Hanover aims to set an example for other towns in Morris County and across New Jersey.

As the construction of these developments progresses, it will be essential for the community and local government to continue monitoring their progress and ensuring that the affordable housing units are accessible to those in need. By doing so, the Township of East Hanover can help create a more inclusive and equitable community for all residents.
