NJ Traffic Alert: Road Closures and Construction Affect I-295, Route 130, and Passaic Street

Overnight closures and detours are expected across New Jersey due to various repair and construction projects.

Here's what you need to know:

I-295 southbound/Al-Jo’s Curve will be closed and detoured on Tuesday night, May 2, from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, for emergency guiderail and attenuator repairs in Bellmawr, Camden County. This closure is part of the Direct Connection project. Motorists are advised to follow the detour signs or visit www.295DirectConnect.com for updates.

Route 130 southbound will see overnight lane closures this week for bridge repairs in Burlington and Mercer counties. Starting at 8 p.m. tonight, May 2, until 6 a.m. tomorrow, and continuing nightly on May 3 and 4, a single lane on Route 130 southbound will be closed on the bridge over Crosswicks Creek. At least one lane will be maintained during construction. This work is part of an $8.9 million federally funded bridge preventative maintenance contract.

Passaic Street will be closed for railroad crossing repairs this week in Hackensack, Bergen County, near the Hackensack Medical Center. The closure will take place from 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, until 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9. Motorists are advised to follow the detour signs around the construction area. This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program.

Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and updates on these closures and detours.
