New Milford Avenue Closure and Detours in Oradell for Railroad Crossing Repairs This Week
New Milford Avenue in Oradell, Bergen County, is scheduled to be closed and detoured between Fey Place and Marginal Road for railroad crossing repairs this week. The closure will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, and last until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10.
During this time, NJ TRANSIT will reconstruct the crossing and approaches while maintaining access for local traffic. Detours will be in place for both eastbound and westbound traffic on New Milford Avenue:
Eastbound Detour:
- From Kinderkamack Road, turn onto River Edge Road
- Turn left onto River Road, back to Main Street/New Milford Avenue
Westbound Detour:
- From Main Street/New Milford Avenue, turn left onto River Road
- Turn right onto River Edge Road
- Turn right onto Kinderkamack Road, back to New Milford Avenue
The federally-funded project aims to provide safer and smoother railroad crossings by replacing the existing crossing with new concrete crossings and asphalt approaches. It is part of NJDOT's railroad grade-crossing safety program, which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 50 crossings each year statewide.
Please note that the work's precise timing may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website, www.511nj.org, for updates.
