Morris County Prosecutors Honored at Law Day 2023 Celebration

Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Supervising Assistant Prosecutor LaJuan Tucker and Assistant Prosecutor Julian Hill received special honors at the Law Day 2023 celebration held at the Morris/Sussex Vicinage in Morristown. The Black Pioneers in the Law Exhibit opening recognized Tucker and Hill for their outstanding achievements and significant impact on the law and the community.

The Law Day event, sponsored by numerous organizations, including the Superior Court of New Jersey, Morris/Sussex Vicinage, and the Morris County Bar Foundation, centered on the theme of "Cornerstones of Democracy: Civics, Civility, and Collaboration."

Established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1958, Law Day is an annual dedication to the principles of government under law and serves as an opportunity to understand the importance of law, legal processes, liberty, justice, and freedom in America.

The Law Day program featured a welcome by Assignment Judge Stuart A. Minkowitz, the Pledge of Allegiance led by Trial Court Administrator Susan Chait, a keynote address from Administrative Director Glenn A. Grant, and recognition of the Morris County Mock Trial champions, West Morris Mendham High School.

After the program, the Black Pioneers in the Law exhibit opened, featuring display cases containing artifacts, photographs, and news articles. The exhibit, on loan from the Bethel Church of Morristown, will remain open through June 19, 2023, in celebration of Juneteenth. Opening remarks were given by Judge Michael A. Wright, Rashad Shabaka-Burns, and Donita Judge.

Attendees included representatives of the Morris County Bar Association, Morris County Bar Foundation, and the Morris County Board of County Commissioners. Prosecutor Robert Carroll congratulated Tucker and Hill, commending them for their leadership at the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
