Morris County Traffic Update: Significant Delays Reported on Major Highways - 5.12.2023

Morristown, NJ - Morris County commuters are facing substantial delays on several major highways this afternoon. As of 3:57 PM, traffic has slowed considerably on portions of I-287, NJ 24, and I-80, according to local traffic reports.

Motorists traveling northbound on I-287 are currently experiencing delays between Exit 37 - NJ 24 in Hanover Township and Exit 40 - CR 511/Parsippany Rd in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township. Although the current travel time is reported as less than 5 minutes, drivers are advised to remain cautious and patient while navigating the area.

Simultaneously, traffic on NJ 24 westbound is also being impacted. Delays are reported east of Exit 1 - CR 511/Whippany Rd in Morris Township and I-287 in Hanover Township. As with I-287, the current travel time remains under 5 minutes. Nevertheless, the slowdown may result in unexpected changes to commuting schedules.

I-80 westbound is also experiencing significant congestion at this time. As of 3:50 PM, delays have been identified between Exit 47A - I-280 and Exit 43 - I-287 in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, with a current travel time of approximately 5-10 minutes.

Unfortunately, the situation on I-80 westbound worsens further along the route. Delays stretch between Exit 42 - US 202/Littleton Rd in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township and Exit 34 - NJ 15 in Wharton, with the current travel time estimated to be 30-35 minutes.

Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes or expect longer than usual travel times due to the current traffic situation.
