Morristown Voters Gain Insight with New Animated Election Video Series from NJ Secretary of State
New Jersey Secretary of State Tahesha Way has taken a creative step to enhance voter understanding of the election process by launching an animated video series. These educational clips aim to demystify the voting process and build trust among New Jersey citizens, including those here in Morristown.
Secretary Way believes that knowledge is key to fostering confidence in the electoral process. "It is extremely important to build trust in the election process and remove any mystery for citizens who want to better understand how the system works," said Secretary Way. "This video series will answer questions voters may have and provide a fun and informative method for understanding New Jersey's elections."
The first set of videos, which debuted today, provides a comprehensive overview of the entire series, covering crucial topics like voter registration, the three ways to vote in New Jersey, tabulation of votes, and election certification. They range in length from 90 seconds to three minutes, offering bite-sized chunks of information that are both engaging and easy to digest.
Assistant Secretary of State Lauren Zyriek Enriquez, also the Acting Director of the New Jersey Division of Elections, spearheaded the development of this initiative. Enriquez noted the importance of correct election information in this era of misinformation. "As voters continue to be exposed to, and even targeted by, incorrect election information, it is vital that election officials communicate the facts about how our elections work," said Enriquez.
This video series, available on the New Jersey Division of Elections' website VOTE.NJ.GOV and their social media feeds, is not only targeted at voters but also local and county election officials. Secretary Way has encouraged them to incorporate these videos into their voter education programming.
Secretary Way expressed her hopes that the series would reach a broad audience, with efforts to engage students, civic groups, and other election stakeholders. "We want to make sure that voters are receiving and sharing information like this directly from trusted official sources like the Division of Elections or our county and local election officials," said Secretary Way.
