Multi-Point Construction Projects Impact Traffic on Key Morris County Highways
Daytime construction across I-80, I-287, NJ 15, and US 46 restricts lanes and is likely to influence travel plans in multiple Morris County townships until the afternoon.
Daytime construction projects are currently causing lane closures on several critical highways in New Jersey, potentially disrupting traffic and commutes. The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) reports multiple construction events on interstates I-80 and I-287, as well as on NJ 15 and US 46, with restrictions expected to last until the afternoon.
On I-287 southbound, construction between Exit 47 - US 202 in Montville Township has led to the closure of the left lane. This obstruction, reported at 10:32 a.m., is projected to last until 2:00 p.m.
Similarly, I-80 eastbound faces multiple construction activities. Between west of Exit 30 - Howard Boulevard in Mount Arlington and east of Exit 34 - NJ 15 in Wharton, construction began at 10:00 a.m., closing the left lane until 2:00 p.m. Additionally, the deceleration lane near Exit 30 - Howard Boulevard in Mount Arlington and the right shoulder in the vicinity of Exit 28 - CR 631/US 46 in Roxbury Township, reported at 10:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. respectively, will remain closed until 2:00 p.m.
NJ 15 is also experiencing construction-related disruptions. In the vicinity of CR 699/Berkshire Valley Rd in Jefferson Township, the right lane was reported closed at 10:00 a.m., an impediment that will remain until 3:00 p.m. Also, in both directions of NJ 15 near CR 699/Berkshire Valley Rd in Jefferson Township, the right lane has been closed since 9:00 a.m. and is expected to open again at 3:00 p.m.
Finally, on US 46, construction has caused the closure of the right shoulder from west of CR 642/Kenvil Av in Roxbury Township to west of CR 669/Canfield Av in Mine Hill Township. The disruption, which began at 7:00 a.m., is scheduled to be cleared by 3:00 p.m.
Motorists are encouraged to stay updated via NJDOT's traffic information website for real-time travel information and to plan their journeys to minimize disruption and delays during the construction period.
The NJDOT is working diligently to ensure that these necessary improvements cause as little inconvenience as possible, and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all affected travelers.
