Morris County Narcotics Task Force and Roxbury PD Seize $256,000 and Drugs; Two Arrested

ROXBURY, NJ - In a joint operation by the Morris County Narcotics Task Force, Roxbury Police Department, and the United States Postal Inspection Service, two individuals were arrested and an extensive cache of drugs and money was seized on June 21.

First Assistant Prosecutor Maggie Calderwood, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Roxbury Police Chief Dean Adone announced that the seized materials included over $256,000 in U.S. currency, approximately 250 Alprazolam pills, 7 pounds of marijuana, 100 LSD tabs, half an ounce of methamphetamine, 5 grams of cocaine, 70 grams of marijuana wax, and drug distribution paraphernalia.

Nelly Solano, 59, and Eldridge Cruzado, 21, both from Kenvil, NJ, are facing numerous charges including possession of LSD with intent to distribute, conspiracy to distribute LSD, distribution of LSD, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, distribution of methamphetamine, money laundering, and possession with intent to distribute drug paraphernalia.

Cruzado is currently being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility, while Solano was released on pretrial monitoring.

In a statement, First Assistant Prosecutor Calderwood credited the investigation's success to effective collaboration among municipal, county, state, and federal agencies. "The success of our Narcotics Task Force thrives on these partnerships and the Task Force Officers provided by our Sheriff and Municipal Police Chiefs," Calderwood said.

Chief Adone echoed Calderwood's sentiments, praising the teamwork involved in the case. "I want to thank my detectives for their diligent proactive police work on this case. We will continue to aggressively pursue cases against any individuals distributing narcotics in Roxbury."

The agencies acknowledged for their assistance in the operation included the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Special Operations Division, Morris County Sheriff’s Office and K9 Unit, Roxbury Police Department, Dover Police Department, Town of Boonton Police Department, US Postal Inspectors, and New Jersey State Parole Detectives.

Despite the charges, the defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The case is still ongoing and will continue to be processed through the legal system.
