Roadblocks in Morris County: Downed Tree, Ongoing Construction Cause Traffic Delays
Multiple incidents on I-80 and I-287 have resulted in lane closures; officials urge motorists to exercise caution.
Several incidents have disrupted traffic in Morris County, including a downed tree and multiple construction projects on Interstate 80 I-287.
As of 11:40 p.m., a downed tree on the I-80 westbound ramp from Exit 25 - US 206 in Mount Olive Township has closed one right lane. Motorists are advised to approach the area with caution.
Construction on I-80 westbound is also affecting traffic. As of 11:00 p.m., work between East of Exit 27 - NJ 183/US 206 in Roxbury Township and West of Exit 19 - CR 517 in Allamuchy Township has led to the closure of at least one lane until 9:00 a.m. Earlier at 9:00 p.m., a similar announcement was made regarding construction between East of Exit 27 - NJ 183/US 206 and West of Exit 19 - CR 517, with the right lane closed until 10:00 a.m.
The construction spree continues on I-287 as well. As of 9:00 p.m., work on the I-287 southbound ramp to Exit 35 - NJ 124 in Morristown has led to the closure of all lanes until 11:30 p.m. on July 16, 2023.
Additionally, there's construction on I-80 eastbound between Exit 27 - NJ 183/US 206 and East of Exit 30 - Howard Boulevard in Roxbury Township, which began at 8:00 p.m. One to two lanes will be closed until 5:00 a.m., with a second lane closed from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes, exercise patience and caution, and stay informed about road conditions through the NJDOT's traffic information website, www.511nj.org.
