I-78 WB Exit 43 ramp to Diamond Hill Road to be closed/detoured Monday in Berkeley Heights

– The I-78 westbound Exit 43 ramp to Diamond Hill Road will be closed and detoured Monday to repair a stormwater pipe in Berkeley Heights, Union County.

From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, July 31, NJDOT’s contractor, IEW Construction Group Inc., is scheduled to close and detour the I-78 westbound Exit 43 ramp to Diamond Hill Road. The closure is necessary to repair an existing stormwater pipe that runs underneath the ramp. The ramp from Diamond Hill Road to I-78 westbound will remain open during construction. The following detour will be in place:

I-78 westbound Exit 43 ramp to Diamond Hill Road:

• Motorists on I-78 westbound wishing to take the Exit 43 ramp to New Providence/Berkley Heights will be directed to continue on I-78 westbound

• Take Exit 41 to Berkeley Heights/Scotch Plains

• Turn right onto Drift Road

• Turn left onto Plainfield Avenue/CR 641

• Turn right onto Mountain Avenue/CR 622, back to Diamond Hill Road/Union Avenue

The work is part of a $10.5 million state-funded maintenance contract to repair stormwater facilities at various locations in eight counties throughout North Jersey.
