New Portal for Direct Care Jobs Unveiled by NJ Human Services and The Boggs Center

'Jobs That Care New Jersey' Offers Vital Information and Job Listings for Caregivers in the State.

NEW JERSEY - Nov. 28, 2023 – A significant development in New Jersey’s healthcare sector was announced today with the launch of the 'Jobs That Care New Jersey' website. This initiative, a collaboration between New Jersey Human Services and The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities, is designed to connect job seekers with direct care employment opportunities.

The website serves as a platform where individuals can find jobs as direct support professionals and certified home health aides. These professionals play a crucial role in supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as assisting older adults and those with chronic medical conditions or disabilities in their homes.

Human Services Commissioner Sarah Adelman highlighted the importance of the caregiving workforce and the state's commitment to enhancing job access in this sector. "This work makes a real and meaningful difference in people’s lives," she stated, encouraging interested candidates to explore the website.

Deborah Spitalnik, PhD, Executive Director of The Boggs Center, emphasized the profound impact of the relationship between direct support professionals and the people they assist. "These are essential jobs," added Kaylee McGuire, Deputy Commissioner for Aging and Disability Services, noting the significance of these roles in community health and well-being.

The new website not only lists job opportunities but also provides resources such as videos and information for employers. It's part of a broader strategy to bolster the direct care workforce, which includes a promotional campaign and ongoing additions of job listings in the field.

Jonathan Seifried, Assistant Commissioner of the Human Services Division of Developmental Disabilities, and Louise Rush, Assistant Commissioner of the Division of Aging Services, both underscored the growing demand for these vital roles. Colleen McLaughlin, Associate Director of The Boggs Center, expressed gratitude for the Department's commitment to this essential workforce and the opportunity this website presents for job seekers.

Developed with support from the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the website symbolizes a significant step in addressing the needs of New Jersey's direct care sector and the broader healthcare community.
