Local volunteer Jessica Romeo receives the Chatham Township Citizen Award for her extensive contributions to community enrichment and development.
Jessica Romeo, a dedicated resident of Chatham Township, was celebrated at the June 25th Township Committee meeting, where Mayor Ewald and other committee members presented her with the esteemed Chatham Township Citizen Award. This honor recognizes her significant volunteer work and leadership across multiple community projects and organizations.
Mrs. Romeo's commitment to the township is evident through her active participation and leadership roles in various initiatives, including the MLK Luminary Project, Colony Pool Advisory Committee, Community Garden Committee, Chatham Township Environmental Commission, and leadership in two local Girl Scout Troops. Her efforts have notably enhanced community engagement and environmental awareness.
Among her many contributions, Mrs. Romeo has been a pivotal figure on the Colony Pool Advisory Committee, initiating programs such as fitness and yoga classes, outdoor movie nights, a teen dock area, and adult social events. As a Girl Scout troop leader, she has motivated young girls to take part in significant environmental projects, like the planting of over two hundred native tree seedlings, fostering a spirit of conservation and community service among the youth.
