Owner of Plato's Closet in Roxbury Sentenced for Invasion of Privacy and Child Pornography Charges

The clothing store owner receives probation and jail time for secretly recording employees and possessing illegal material.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Investigations Robert McNally, and Roxbury Township Police Chief Dean Adone announced the sentencing of Nicholas Zirpoli, 36, of Lincoln Park, New Jersey, the owner and operator of Plato’s Closet in Roxbury Township.

On May 13, 2024, Zirpoli pled guilty to ten counts of third-degree invasion of privacy and one count of third-degree possession of child pornography. On October 4, 2024, Superior Court Judge Stephen J. Taylor sentenced Zirpoli to three years of probation, including 364 days in the Morris County Correctional Facility. Additionally, Zirpoli is barred from contacting the victims or their families and must continue to undergo psychotherapy.

The charges stem from incidents between late 2022 and early 2023, during which Zirpoli used a device to secretly record 11 employees, including both juveniles and adults, while they were using the restroom at Plato's Closet.

Prosecutor Carroll acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Roxbury Township Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit, which jointly conducted the investigation leading to Zirpoli's conviction and sentencing.
