After two years of public dialogue and intensive design engineering, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will host a public open house event at Liberty State Park (LSP) on Wednesday, May 24 at 6 p.m. The meeting aims to discuss advancements in the LSP Revitalization Program, an ambitious initiative planned to breathe new life into the northern, interior, and southern/waterfront areas of the park through a three-phase construction and design project.

The DEP has extended an invitation to the local community to attend the open house, which will showcase a schedule of planned actions for the revitalization program over the upcoming year. Notably, the schedule features numerous opportunities for continued public engagement and an anticipated groundbreaking event scheduled for early this fall.

Open house attendees will have the chance to observe a poster and video exhibit detailing options for new public amenities at each phase of the revitalization project. The DEP has expressed an interest in gathering feedback from attendees to help guide the development of these amenities.

On-site for the evening will be Commissioner Shawn LaTourette, various DEP staff, and professionals from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who are actively involved in advancing the LSP Revitalization Program. They will be available to answer questions, discuss ideas, and gather feedback directly from the public.

The open house event will take place at the historic Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal building, located within the park at One Audrey Zapp Drive. The event is an opportunity for New Jersey residents to directly influence the ongoing efforts to enhance and preserve the beauty of one of the state's most iconic parks.
