Who: Advocates for Children of New Jersey (ACNJ) and the New Jersey Association for the Education of Young Children (NJAEYC)
What: ACNJ and NJAEYC are hosting a town hall on New Jersey's child care crisis. Since August 1, 2025, the state has frozen all new applications to the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) due to insufficient funding, leaving working families without access to critical child care subsidies.
Both organizations are calling on legislative leadership in both the New Jersey Senate and Assembly to immediately convene a special legislative session and pass supplemental funding of at least $30 million to reopen CCAP. Assemblywoman Aura K. Dunn will join affected families and child care providers to hear firsthand accounts of how the freeze is impacting communities across New Jersey.
Where: Morristown Neighborhood House, 12 Flagler St, Morristown, NJ 07960
When: Wednesday, August 27th from 5:30-7:30pm
Why: The CCAP application freeze is creating immediate hardship for working families who depend on child care assistance to maintain employment and economic stability. Without access to affordable child care, parents face impossible choices between working and caring for their children. The funding crisis also threatens the stability of New Jersey’s child care community, potentially worsening the state’s existing child care shortage and fragile infrastructure.
