Construction and Traffic Delays to Avoid on the Evening Commute

Construction on NJ 10, NJ 15, I-80, US 46, I-287 slow down evening commute in Morris County

Morristown, NJ – Commuters in Morris County face a series of disruptions today due to extensive construction projects on several key routes, including NJ 10, NJ 15, I-80, and US 46. The projects, which started early this morning, are causing lane and shoulder closures across the county, impacting traffic flow and travel times.

As of 9:00 am, significant construction activity is noted on NJ 10 with lane closures in both directions affecting areas from Hanover Township to West Orange Township. This includes a left lane closure on the eastbound ramp to Dryden Way in Hanover Township, and a right lane and shoulder closure extending from River Rd in East Hanover to Summit St in West Orange.

In addition, NJ 15 is experiencing disruptions in both directions near CR 699/Berkshire Valley Rd in Rockaway Township. On I-80, motorists will encounter closed right shoulders in both east and westbound directions, particularly near Exit 34 in Wharton and between Exits 26 and 27 covering Mount Olive Township to Roxbury Township.

US 46 also sees multiple closures, with right lane restrictions in Denville Township, Dover, Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, Mountain Lakes, and Montville Township. Notably, the westbound lane near Blackwell St in Dover and shoulders in both east and westbound directions in various segments are affected.

On NJ 23, construction activities are concentrated from north of Alexander Av in Pequannock Township to north of Maple Lake Rd in Kinnelon, with right shoulder closures in both directions.

These construction activities, scheduled to last until the late afternoon, are part of ongoing road improvement and maintenance efforts. Motorists are advised to plan for delays, consider alternate routes where possible, and exercise caution while navigating through these areas.

The traffic disruptions are expected to ease by 3:00 PM on most routes, with a few extending until 4:00 PM. Officials urge drivers to stay informed about the latest traffic conditions and to remain patient as these essential roadworks are completed.
