Ocean County Man Receives 20-Year Sentence for Major Drug and Firearm Offenses

Dyshawn Moss, 42, from Manchester, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for multiple drug trafficking and firearm charges, as announced by U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger.

TRENTON, NJ - In a case that highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking and gun crime, Dyshawn Moss, a resident of Manchester, Ocean County, faced justice in Trenton federal court. U.S. District Judge Michael A. Shipp sentenced Moss to 240 months in prison on five counts, including the distribution of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine, and illegal firearm possession.

The conviction, which followed a four-day trial ending on October 27, 2022, revealed Moss’s involvement in a substantial drug operation. Law enforcement agents, upon arresting Moss outside his Manchester apartment on May 24, 2019, discovered over a kilogram of fentanyl, more than 1.3 kilograms of heroin, and upwards of 2.6 kilograms of cocaine. Additionally, materials for drug packaging, over $150,000 in cash, and a loaded 9mm Taurus handgun were seized.

Judge Shipp’s ruling also includes a 10-year supervised release following Moss’s prison term, emphasizing the seriousness of the offenses. The sentence reflects the combined efforts of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, led by Special Agent in Charge Cheryl Ortiz, and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, under Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.
