Nathaniel G. Yanez Convicted for Crimes in Rockaway and Dover, Now Faces Parole Supervision for Life

Nathaniel G. Yanez, 23, of Newark, previously residing in Dover, N.J., has been sentenced to 12 years in New Jersey State Prison, following his guilty pleas in a series of sexual assaults. The sentencing was announced by Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll and local law enforcement officials.

Morristown, NJ - In a significant legal development, Nathaniel G. Yanez, a 23-year-old Newark resident, faced justice for his crimes committed in Morris County. On December 8, 2023, Judge Stephen J. Taylor handed down a 12-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison, with a stipulation of 85% parole ineligibility under the No Early Release Act.

Yanez's sentencing follows his April 27 guilty pleas to three counts of second-degree Sexual Assault and one count of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. His incarceration at the Morris County Correctional Facility began in March 2022, following his arrest on these charges.

The incidents leading to Yanez's conviction occurred at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rockaway, New Jersey, and at a residence in Dover. Additional evidence against Yanez came to light through videos found on his phone, implicating him in assaults against multiple victims.

As part of his sentence, Yanez is required to register under Megan’s Law and will be subjected to Parole Supervision for Life. Additionally, he is prohibited from any contact with the three victims involved in the case.

Prosecutor Carroll, in his statement, expressed gratitude towards the collective efforts of the Rockaway Township Police Department, Dover Township Police Department, and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office’s Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit. Their collaboration was pivotal in the successful prosecution of Yanez.
