Jersey City Gang Members Indicted: Three Murders and Drug Trafficking Among Charges

Eleven members of the Marion Gardens Jersey City gang face charges in a major crackdown on organized crime, highlighting efforts to curb violence and drug trafficking.

NEWARK, N.J. – A sweeping indictment has brought eleven members of a notorious Jersey City gang into the legal crosshairs, marking a critical juncture in the fight against organized crime and drug trafficking in New Jersey. The U.S. Attorney's Office detailed the extensive criminal activities of these individuals, who are allegedly tied to the Marion Gardens Housing Complex gang, underlining a concerted effort by federal and local law enforcement to disrupt violent gangs and drug operations in the area.

The indictment names Myron Williams, Khalil Kelley, Herbert Thomas, Roger Pickett, Andre Alomar, Anthony Rogers, Naim Richardson, Quaseame Wilson, Javon Williams, Jawaad Davis, and Keith Anderson, citing their involvement in numerous violent and drug-related crimes since 2020. This includes three separate murders dating back to March 2021 and a sophisticated drug trafficking operation.

U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger emphasized the dedication of his office to combating violent crime in Jersey City and across New Jersey. Sellinger praised the collaborative efforts of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office’s Gang Intelligence Unit and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) in bringing these charges.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez underscored the importance of multi-level law enforcement cooperation in ensuring community safety. ATF Special Agent in Charge Bryan Miller also highlighted the agency's commitment to investigating and countering gang violence.

The indictment details chilling accounts of the gang's activities, including luring rival gang members through deceptive social media messages and executing them upon response. The investigation also exposed the gang's involvement in numerous drug transactions in and around the Marion Gardens Housing Complex.

The primary narcotics supplier to the gang, Herbert Thomas, along with other key members, were found in possession of controlled substances and firearms during their arrest in March 2023. This bust follows a June 2021 indictment of eight other gang associates on similar charges.

This operation is part of the Jersey City Violent Crime Initiative (VCI), formed in 2018 to specifically address violent crime in the area. The VCI represents a partnership among various federal, state, and local agencies, all focused on prosecuting violent offenders and enhancing community safety.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Desiree Grace, Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division in Newark, represents the government in this case. The defendants, currently facing a range of charges including RICO conspiracy, Hobbs Act Robbery, and drug conspiracy, are presumed innocent until proven guilty. This indictment serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against organized crime and its impact on communities.
