Dover Resident Charged with Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material
Morris County authorities arrested a local man following a CyberTip related to Child Sexual Abuse Materials.
Morris County's law enforcement, led by Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Dover Police Chief Jonathan Delaney, announced the arrest of 37-year-old Richard Ferrarie-Lofredo from Dover. The charges against Ferrarie-Lofredo concern the possession of Child Sex Abuse Material (CSAM).
Ferrarie-Lofredo faces a third-degree crime charge for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, specifically related to possessing CSAM, under N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4B(5)(b)(iii). This arrest follows an investigation initiated by a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip pointed to media files allegedly depicting minors' sexual exploitation or abuse, reportedly uploaded to Reddit by Ferrarie-Lofredo. Additional CSAM items were allegedly found on an electronic device in his possession.
The arrest took place on January 12, 2024. Following his arrest, Ferrarie-Lofredo was released under the conditions of the Criminal Justice Reform Act, which includes pretrial monitoring and restrictions on internet usage.
Prosecutor Carroll expressed gratitude to the Dover Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force for their pivotal roles in the investigation.
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office urges anyone with information related to this case to contact the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force of the Sex Crimes / Child Endangerment Unit at 973-285-6200.
It is crucial to remember that a criminal complaint is not a conviction. Despite the charges, Ferrarie-Lofredo maintains the presumption of innocence until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
