Fire Prevention Inspector- Full Time- Washington Township Morris County

The Washington Township is seeking a full-time Fire Prevention Inspector. Applicants must be able to conduct field inspections in various environments. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, ESP & FirstDue applications. Individuals must have a valid NJ Division of Fire Safety Fire Inspector. Fire Official & Fire Investigator are a plus. Duties of the position include conducting various inspections & Investigations at the direction of the Fire Official.

Minimum Qualifications:

 -Two (2) years’ experience in fire prevention or code enforcement

 -Must have a valid driver's license

 -Must have valid NJ Division of Fire Safety Fire Inspector Certification. Fire Official Certification is a plus

 -NJ Division of Fire Safety Fire Investigator is a plus

 -Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google WorkSpace applications

 -Knowledge of ESP, Spatial Data Logic and FirstDue

 -Must be willing to be certified in lead paint abatement inspections through HUD

 -Candidate must be willing to further education if they do not possess Fire Official or Fire Investigator certification.

General Responsibilities:

 -Fire Prevention Inspector performs the duties as required by the Uniform Fire Code N.J.A.C. 5:71-3.3.

 -Ensure that all inspections for life and non-life hazard use, resale or rentals of all residential dwelling units, fire safety permits and complaints are conducted in accordance with the Uniform Fire Code and local ordinances.

 -Conduct visual and or swap lead paint abatement inspections required by New Jersey regulations.

 -Conduct Fire Investigations within Washington Township and municipalities served under shared service agreements as per NFPA 921 and the Uniform Fire Code. Investigate in conjunction with the Fire Official and other agencies such as County Fire Marshals, Local Law Enforcement, County Prosecutors Offices, Local Fire Departments or the Division of Fire Safety.
