NAMI NJ Seeks Submissions for Mental Health Poetry Contest

Poetry submissions should be based on the prompt, “What will you be doing all while the world is screaming?”

Guidelines:

  • Poem should be in keeping with the theme.
  • Poem must be typewritten. Please send a Word Document (no PDF files).
  • Poem should be no longer than 40 lines.
  • A completed media release form must accompany each entry.
  • Minors must disclose their ages at the time of completing the media release form.
  • A cover letter that includes the individual’s name, e-mail, mailing address and phone number must accompany each submission.

The contest submission deadline is Monday, March 25, 2024, ET by 11:59 p.m. The contest is open only to domestic applicants with U.S. mailing addresses.

Entries may be submitted to poetry@naminj.org, or via mail to NAMI NJ Poetry Contest, 1562 Route 130, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.

Poems will be open to public voting for the Top 10 by late April. The top three poems will win cash prizes and the top poems will also be published on the NAMI NJ website!

NAMI NJ will share poem submissions, and individuals will have the opportunity to participate in an Open Mic event, during their May 20, 2024 virtual Expressive Arts Network Café meeting, taking place at 6:00 p.m. ET. Individuals who wish to participate in the Open Mic event should send their names and email addresses to jarmstrong@naminj.org, with the subject “Open Mic.”
