Montville Resident Charged with Multiple Counts of Sexual Assault Involving a Juvenile
Morris County officials have announced charges against Juan A. Fernandez, 61, for severe alleged offenses over a decade-long period.
MONTVILLE, NJ — In a significant development, Morris County Prosecutor's Office, in conjunction with Montville Township Police, has disclosed the arrest of Juan A. Fernandez, 61, of Towaco, on serious charges including aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The allegations involve a juvenile male, who reportedly was subjected to sexual abuse from the age of six until sixteen.
Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, along with Chief of Detectives Robert McNally and Montville Township Police Chief Andrew Caggiano, outlined the charges that span a decade of alleged abuse starting when the victim was just a child. The investigation, which began in March 2024, has led to Fernandez facing three counts of 1st Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, five counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault, and additional charges relating to endangering the welfare of a child.
Fernandez is currently held at the Morris County Correctional Facility, awaiting a detention hearing scheduled for April 17. This follows the guidelines of the Criminal Justice Reform. The prosecution stresses that a criminal complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Authorities are urging anyone with further information about this case to contact the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes Child Endangerment Unit or the Montville Township Police Department.
