Week-Long Lane and Ramp Closures in Secaucus for Repairs

Upcoming Lane and Ramp Closures on Route 3 Westbound in Secaucus for Median and Guiderail Repairs

NORTH JERSEY – The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced scheduled closures on Route 3 westbound in Secaucus, Hudson County, to facilitate median reconstruction and guiderail repairs. The project is set to begin early next week and will impact both the local lanes and the mainline traffic.

Starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 13, and continuing until noon on Sunday, May 19, the left lane on Route 3 westbound Local will be closed starting at the ramp from Route 495 westbound. Traffic will be maintained in at least one lane throughout the duration of the project. Additionally, the ramp from Route 3 westbound Local to Route 3 westbound Mainline near the Exxon at Mill Creek Drive will be closed and a detour will be implemented. The right shoulder on Route 3 westbound Mainline will also be unavailable during this time.

Detour Information: Motorists on Route 3 westbound Local wishing to access the Route 3 westbound Mainline near the Exxon at Mill Creek Drive will need to continue on Route 3 westbound Local and merge onto the Route 3 westbound Mainline past the Paterson Plank Road/Secaucus ramp.

This work is part of a broader $6.3 million maintenance contract aimed at repairing guiderails and attenuators across eight North Jersey counties, including Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union, and Warren.

Due to potential changes in schedule resulting from weather conditions or other unforeseen factors, motorists are advised to stay informed by checking NJDOT’s real-time traffic information website at www.511nj.org. This project is critical for maintaining the safety and infrastructure integrity of one of the region's busiest thoroughfares.
