Lane Closures on Route 15 Morris County Tonight for Roadway Restriping

Jefferson Township Roadway Enhancements Near Completion

(MORRIS COUNTY, N.J.) – The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced that Route 15 will experience lane closures tonight as part of the nearing completion of the Berkshire Valley intersection improvement project in Jefferson, Morris County.

Starting at 8 p.m. this evening, Friday, May 10, and continuing until 5 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, sections of Route 15 between Phipps Road/Hawk Drive and the Bridge over the Rockaway River will be closed for restriping.

Despite the lane closures, access to and from Berkshire Valley Road via Route 15 ramps will remain unaffected.

This operation is a segment of an extensive $8 million federally-funded initiative aimed at enhancing the safety and functionality of the signalized intersection at Route 15 and Berkshire Valley Road.

Noteworthy enhancements include the addition of a second left-turn lane from Berkshire Valley Road southbound to Route 15 southbound and the extension and widening of the Route 15 northbound through lane.

Additional upgrades encompass the replacement of existing traffic signals, construction of ADA-compliant sidewalks, and improvements to drainage and guiderails. Completion of the project is anticipated in spring 2024.

NJDOT advises that the timing of these works might be adjusted depending on weather conditions or other unforeseen factors. Motorists are encouraged to stay informed of construction updates and real-time traffic conditions by visiting NJDOT’s traffic information website at www.511nj.org.
