Three Newark Residents Face Serious Charges After Armed Robbery

Three men from Essex County, New Jersey, were indicted by a federal grand jury on June 10, 2024, for their involvement in the armed robbery of an Orange, New Jersey, pharmacy in January of the same year. U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced that Reginald Ware, 54, Nyiron Williams, 22, and Jamon Crosby, 35, are facing charges of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act Robbery, Hobbs Act Robbery, and using firearms during a violent crime.

The incident unfolded on January 16, 2024, when Ware, Williams, and Crosby, reportedly wearing black masks, entered a pharmacy in Orange. They brandished handguns and demanded money and cell phones from the employees. The trio also took cash and prescription medications. Law enforcement quickly responded to the scene, leading to their apprehension near the pharmacy. Ware was captured in the parking lot, Williams two blocks away, and Crosby after entering a nearby residence.

The charges carry severe penalties. The firearm offense could result in life imprisonment, with mandatory minimums based on prior convictions. Ware, previously convicted in 2012 for similar offenses, faces a minimum of 25 years. Both robbery charges could lead to up to 20 years in prison and fines up to $250,000 or double the gain or loss from the crime.

The investigation was a collaborative effort between the FBI, led by Special Agent in Charge James E. Dennehy, and the Orange Police Department, directed by Police Director Todd Warren. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ariel Douek of the General Crimes Unit in Newark is leading the prosecution.

It is important to note that the charges are only allegations, and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty. The legal process will continue to unfold, ensuring a fair trial for those involved.
