Boonton Mayor James Lynch on the Rise of Identity Theft and Accessibility to Public Records

Dear Town Residents:

With the rise of identity theft and accessibility to public records on the internet and “dark web”, I would like to share a free service offered by the Morris County Clerk’s office. The Property Alert Service program alerts you if someone tries to place a lien on your property, or transfer title. To register your property:

  1. Go to www.morriscountyclerk.org
  2. Click on Registry
  3. Click on Property Alert Service
  4. Click on Visit the Morris County Property Alert Service Website
  5. Follow the steps to register your property. You will need to set up an account, including providing an email address and password, as well as your Block and Lot information.

This is a helpful and free County service that we encourage our residents to consider as an added layer of security and protection.

If you have any questions regarding the program, you may contact my office or call the Morris County Clerk’s Office at 973-285-6130. I hope you find this information and the program helpful.

Sincerely,

Mayor James Lynch
