Heavy Delays and Ongoing Construction Across Morris County
Multiple roadwork projects contribute to significant traffic across key highways.
As of this morning, motorists in Morris County are facing substantial delays due to a combination of heavy traffic and ongoing construction on several major roads. Key areas affected include stretches of I-80, US 46, and NJ 10, impacting travel times and accessibility.
Heavy traffic has been reported on I-80 eastbound, with current travel times reaching 25-30 minutes from just west of Exit 30 - Howard Blvd in Mount Arlington to west of Exit 37 - CR 513/Hibernia Ave in Rockaway Township. This congestion began around 11:07 AM today and is expected to impact midday travel.
In terms of construction, I-80 eastbound has been particularly affected. Starting at 9:30 AM, at least one lane has been closed between Exit 34 - NJ 15 in Wharton, with varying closures scheduled to last until approximately 1:59 PM. This includes a period where two lanes will be shut down until 12:59 PM.
Additionally, US 46 and NJ 10 are experiencing similar disruptions:
- On US 46, construction activities have led to the closure of right and left lanes and shoulders in multiple sections between Parsippany-Troy Hills Township and Montville Township. These are expected to last until 3:00 PM.
- On NJ 10, one left lane is closed in both directions from near Cairns Rd in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township to near River Rd in East Hanover Township, with work scheduled until 2:00 PM.
Local authorities advise drivers to plan for extra travel time or seek alternate routes where possible. Updated information on these and other disruptions will be provided as it becomes available.
