Garden State Community Outreach Connects Residents with Resources and Support Programs

Statewide initiative aims to connect New Jerseyans with critical programs and resources

NEW JERSEY – Governor Phil Murphy has unveiled the Garden State Community Outreach, a new statewide campaign aimed at raising awareness of the numerous state programs designed to support New Jersey residents and their families. The campaign seeks to ensure that all eligible residents are informed about cost-saving and life-improving resources, many of which are relatively new, and offers assistance in accessing and applying for them.

From day one, my Administration has been committed to building a stronger New Jersey where every family has equal access to opportunities that will help them thrive. Whether it’s through affordable high-quality health care, access to nutritional food, assistance with utility payments, or historic levels of tax relief, we are leveraging these vital resources to build more resilient communities,” said Governor Murphy.Amidst the hustle of daily life, Garden State Community Outreach is designed to help ensure that every family is not only aware of these programs, but understands how to access them.”

Through Connecting NJ and Family Connects NJ, we are leading the nation in ensuring vital services and care are available for New Jersey moms and babies,” said First Lady Tammy Murphy. However, we must make certain everyone is aware of all the incredible resources and programs available to them. I’m thrilled we are taking on this marketing effort to ensure we reach every family in New Jersey."

In line with the administration’s goal of creating a "stronger and fairer" New Jersey, the initiative builds on efforts begun in 2018 to boost affordability and expand access to essential services like health care and mental health support. Funded by the American Rescue Plan, the campaign features a comprehensive outreach strategy that includes a new website, GardenStateOutreach.us, where residents can explore available programs and apply for them.

Beginning on September 9, a team of canvassers will conduct door-to-door outreach and participate in community events across the state, helping residents apply for programs ranging from health care assistance to energy bill relief. Key programs covered include NJ FamilyCare, WorkFirstNJ, NJ Earned Income Tax Credit, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and Senior Freeze, among others.

The initiative also promotes critical mental health and crisis resources such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and StopOverdosesNJ. Governor Murphy hopes the campaign will have a lasting impact by connecting New Jerseyans with the resources they need to thrive.
