Fugitive Safe Surrender Event Scheduled in Millville

A Chance for Nonviolent Offenders to Resolve Outstanding Warrants

The Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem Vicinage is set to host a Fugitive Safe Surrender event aimed at assisting individuals with nonviolent offenses to clear their outstanding bench warrants. The event will take place on Monday, September 9, from noon to 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, located at 201 N. 2nd St., Millville.

This initiative is designed to address outstanding bench warrants related to traffic violations, criminal charges, child support, and juvenile complaints originating from Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem, Atlantic, and Cape May counties. Individuals attending the event will have the opportunity to speak directly with judiciary staff and have their cases heard by a judge on-site without the risk of being taken into custody.

To support attendees in resolving their legal issues, Spanish interpreters will be available along with representatives from local social services. Additional support services will include legal aid, housing assistance, and veteran’s support, featuring representatives from Vineland Code Blue, the Spanish Community Center, and Volunteers of America. Resources for mental health and substance abuse treatment will also be provided.

Informational resources on various judiciary programs such as Criminal Justice Reform, the JOBS Program, and Recovery Court will be accessible to participants. The event does not require preregistration, allowing walk-in participants to seek immediate assistance.
