Water Main Break and Multiple Construction Projects Impact Morris County Traffic

Drivers in Morris Township and surrounding areas face lane closures and delays due to ongoing construction and a water main break.

MORRIS COUNTY, N.J. - Motorists traveling through Morris County are advised to plan ahead and expect delays as multiple construction projects and a water main break affect traffic flow across several major roadways.

As of 10:25 a.m., a water main break has led to the complete closure of all northbound lanes on US 202, just north of Harter Road in Morris Township. The extent of the closure remains indefinite as crews work to resolve the issue.

In addition, several ongoing construction projects are causing lane and shoulder closures throughout the county:

  • NJ 23: Southbound traffic near Maple Lake Road in Butler is reduced to one lane and shoulder closure until 3:30 p.m.
  • NJ 24: Intermittent closures are expected until 3:00 p.m. on westbound lanes between Exit 2 (Columbia Turnpike) and Exit 1 (Whippany Road) in Morris Township.
  • US 46: Construction is affecting both directions of traffic at various points, including lane closures in Parsippany-Troy Hills, Mount Olive, and Denville Townships. Closures will last until 3:00 p.m.
  • I-287: Construction near Exit 47 (US 202) in Montville Township has resulted in the closure of the left shoulder, with no specified end time.

Travelers should consider alternative routes to avoid potential delays and stay informed of updates on these projects. Morris County officials encourage residents and commuters to drive with caution in affected areas to ensure safety for both workers and drivers.
