Traffic Alert: Road Closures and Construction Updates Across Morris County

Morris County drivers should prepare for lane and shoulder closures due to ongoing construction and an incident on I-80.

MORRIS COUNTY, N.J.As of 10:39 a.m., a vehicle is reported off the roadway on I-80 westbound just east of Exit 47A (I-280) in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township. The incident has resulted in the closure of the right lane, which may cause some delays in the area. Motorists are advised to use caution and consider alternate routes if possible.

In addition to the incident on I-80, several construction projects are underway across Morris County, affecting multiple roadways with lane and shoulder closures. On NJ Route 23 northbound in Butler, construction near County Route 618/Kinnelon Road/Keil Road has closed the right lane for repairs, with work expected to continue until 4:00 p.m.

NJ Route 24 in both directions is also experiencing construction impacts at Exit 1 (County Route 511/Whippany Road) in Morris Township. The right shoulder is closed, with work continuing until 3:00 p.m. today.

In Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, construction on US Route 46 is causing lane closures in both directions from East of County Route 654/Cherry Hill Road to West of I-287. The right lane is closed, with an expected completion time of 3:00 p.m. Additional construction is ongoing from West of County Route 618/Mountain Lakes Boulevard in Mountain Lakes to East of Cherry Hill Road, with both right shoulder and left lane closures intermittently until 3:00 p.m.

Further impacting US Route 46, construction from West of I-80 in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township has resulted in intermittent closures of the left lane and right shoulder, which will continue until 3:00 p.m.

NJ Route 53 northbound, north of US Route 202 in Morris Plains, has a right shoulder closure due to ongoing construction, set to continue until 3:00 p.m. Additionally, on NJ Route 23, construction northbound from Maple Lake Road in Butler to North of Paterson Hamburg Turnpike in West Milford Township has closed one right lane until 1:00 p.m.

On I-287, two major construction activities are causing closures. As of 4:44 a.m., construction near Exit 33 (Harter Road/US Route 202) in Harding Township has closed the right shoulder for repairs, with work scheduled to continue until midnight on October 13. Moreover, construction in both directions at Exit 47 (US Route 202) in Montville Township has closed the left shoulder, with the closure remaining in place until further notice.

Motorists traveling through these areas are advised to allow for extra travel time, use caution near work zones, and consider alternate routes when possible to avoid potential delays. The Morris County Department of Transportation advises keeping informed on real-time traffic updates to better navigate the ongoing disruptions.
