Multiple Construction Projects Impact Traffic Across Morris County
Travelers face delays and lane closures on several key routes until late afternoon.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — A series of construction projects across Morris County are causing significant traffic disruptions today. The New Jersey Department of Transportation has announced multiple lane closures along major highways, affecting both northbound and southbound traffic until 3:00 PM, with one project extending until 4:00 PM.
One of the most impactful closures is on I-287 northbound, stretching from north of Exit 33 at Harter Rd/US 202 to south of Exit 35 at NJ 124 in Morristown, where the left lane is closed. Similarly, on I-287, the right shoulder is closed between north of Exit 47 and US 202 in Montville Township.
US 46 is another major hotspot with various segments under construction. Lane closures are in effect from I-287 to US 202/CR 511/Parsippany Blvd in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, affecting both acceleration and deceleration lanes. This extends from east of CR 618/Mountain Lakes Blvd to east of CR 654/Cherry Hill Rd in both directions, with additional disruptions reported from CR 644/Main St in Rockaway Township to I-287.
In addition, NJ 23 sees disruptions in both directions near CR 680/Jackson Ave in Pequannock Township with a right lane and shoulder closed until 4:00 PM. The southbound direction south of CR 515/Stockholm Vernon Rd in Jefferson Township is also seeing one left lane closed.
NJ 53 northbound from US 46 in Denville Township reports a right lane closure, completing the picture of a region heavily peppered with roadwork. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, seek alternate routes, or adjust travel plans where possible. This extensive network of closures highlights the ongoing efforts to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure in Morris County, aiming for long-term benefits at the cost of short-term inconvenience.
