Gloucester County Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Drug Trafficking and Firearms Possession
Glassboro resident was found guilty of possessing methamphetamine and firearms as a convicted felon.
George W. Joyce, 40, of Glassboro, New Jersey, was sentenced to 120 months in prison on December 10 for possessing thousands of methamphetamine pills with the intent to distribute and for unlawful possession of firearms, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced. U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn handed down the sentence in Camden federal court.
Details of the Case
Joyce previously pleaded guilty to charges of possessing more than 50 grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possessing firearms as a convicted felon.
The charges stem from a search warrant executed on March 29, 2023, at Joyce’s Glassboro residence. Law enforcement officers recovered approximately 2,587 methamphetamine pills from his bedroom, which Joyce admitted were intended for distribution. Additionally, two loaded firearms were found in the same room. As a felon, Joyce was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.
Sentence
In addition to the 10-year prison term, Joyce will serve four years of supervised release following his incarceration.
Investigation and Prosecution
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Wilmington Resident Agency, led by Special Agent in Charge William J. DelBagno, with support from the FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office, the Delaware State Police, and the New Castle County Police Department. The investigation also received assistance from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Bender prosecuted the case on behalf of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Camden.
